Direct Evangelization
One of the expectations our Holy Father Francis put forth to the religious during this Year of Consecrated life is “to come out of yourselves and go forth to the existential peripheries”. As part of responding to the expectation of our Holy Father, Valan Province has organized a five day direct Evangelization along with social work and promotion of vocation. Four groups of sisters (22 in numbers), stayed in the villages amidst the people of God, from 28th September to 2nd October, 2015, and enriched their lives: proclaimed the Good News; gave solace to the suffering; visited the sick and elderly; offered hope to the hopeless; guided the youth to lead a purposeful life; prayed with the people and deepened their faith in the Lord; taught catechism to the children; prepared the children for First Communion; conducted competition and awarded prizes, distributed the Holy Bible, Rosaries, wooden boards containing the Word of God, Rosaries, book marks containing the Word of God, picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Diving Mercy Rosary prayer cards; motivated the parents to offer their children to serve the Lord and inspired the young girls to choose religious life for their future. All the sisters actively participated in this mission and they felt a sense of joy and peace in serving the people. Our sisters simple life, their approach and their concern for the people made a positive impact on the people.

Our sisters visited the following villages:
Group I : Manakarai, Arambannai, Miankanpalli, Chettimallanpatti and Kaliyavoor of Tuticorin Diocese

Group II: Perunkulam, Nanthankulam and P.Saveriyar puram of Tuticorin diocese

Group III: Manalkundu of Tuticorin diocese

Group IV: V.K. Puram and Sivanthipuram of Palayamkottai Diocese.
